Teen suspects in strong-armed robbery arrested

-

A cross-agency collaboration led to the arrest of four suspects who are believed to be involved in a strong-armed robbery incident that occurred Monday night.

The robbery incident occurred about 9:30 p.m. outside the gates of the Villa Hermosa apartment complex on Rosas Street, county scanner traffic stated.

A vehicle reportedly approached a victim in front of the complex, held the victim at gunpoint and stole the victim’s wallet, county Sheriff’s Office activity logs stated. The victim notified 911 of the incident shortly after it occurred. The victim reported no injuries. The victim told Calexico Police Department the suspect vehicle was a gray 2016 Dodge Challenger occupied by a female driver and three male passengers.

The Challenger fled southbound on Andrade Avenue. Border Patrol units were requested to assist CPD in searching for the vehicle, but it wasn’t found.

About 11:40 p.m., an Imperial County Sheriff’s Office deputy located the Challenger in the area of Ocotillo Avenue and Fifth Street. The car reportedly was parked, turned off and occupied.

ICSO requested assistance from El Centro Police Department to surround the Challenger in case it attempted to drive away.A felony traffic stop was conducted, and the female and three males were removed from the vehicle without incident.

The female was 19 years old, while the three men were 18, 19 and 18 years old.

The robbery victim positively identified all four suspects. The four suspects were transported to Calexico Police Department for further investigation.

CPD did not respond to a request for comment as of press time Tuesday.
