License Release Program highlights Child Support Awareness Month
August is Child Support Awareness Month, and once again, Imperial County Department of Child Support Services will be offering a number of special programs to commemorate the occasion.
For starters, ICDCSS will again be offering parents who are delinquent in child support and who have had their driver’s licenses suspended the opportunity to have them reinstated through its License Release Program.
License reinstatement requires provision of current income information, picture ID, one current payment and a $25 payment on arrears. ICDCSS said that in some cases, licenses may be released with an even lower payment.
The License Release Program will run through Sept. 30. After this date, parents wishing to keep their licenses from being suspended again must keep their accounts current.
In addition to license release, ICDCSS be conducting outreach through Facebook and Twitter, and will hold a Virtual Employer Workshop at 9 a.m. on Aug. 27. The workshop will be in partnership with Riverside, San Bernardino and Kern counties (members of the Southern Inland Region Child Support Collaborative) and will provide business owners, and payroll and human resources professionals information on mandatory child support practices, health insurance and payroll deductions.
ICDCSS said any person who currently has a child support case open in the county and whose individual circumstances have changed should call (866) 901-3212 or (442)-265-4908 to schedule an appointment at its office at 2795 S. Fourth St., El Centro.
