My fantasy football league moral decision!

-

Heya fellow FFL fools! I have been struggling for more than a year with the decision to “stay and play” (support the NFL) or DTRT (Do the Right Thing), and put on a protest of my own and boycott!

I thought I made up my mind yesterday and decided to play another season but with “set conditions” this time!

I would only draft players who I know support our military, police and country by standing for the national anthem and saluting our flag. If they violated that even one minute before each game, I’d vow to bench them if I could, or the following week. (The fantasy football platforms, like ESPN, NFL and Yahoo should add this to their player stat lines.)

But then, after speaking to my son yesterday, he floored me when he said, “I’ve already decided -- I’m not only out of FFL, I stopped watching NFL, MLB and NBA!” Thanks, Michael, for helping me with that moral decision.

So even as a devout Steelers fan for over 40 years and after starting this league (PMH FFL) over 15 years ago, it is with great sadness but with integrity to honor our great country and the men and women who fight and die each day to protect it, I say, “Forget all you millionaire men in helmets, whose money comes from devout fans such as the former me but who kneel to our flag. We (and I speak for my adult son, too) are OUT!”

I urge you all who decided to keep playing to at least ask the support platforms you use (ESPN, Yahoo, etc.) to add a penalty system to the players who don’t stand and salute so that something like 10 points be deducted if you have that player in your lineup (or something to this effect). Then I might reconsider!

(Dropping the mic!)

PS: I’ll be setting up an NHL fantasy league next season if anyone likes the (so far) minimally affected NHL! Give me a shout out!

Go PENS!
