Leon L. Armenta, 90, of Westmorlan­d, C A passed away passed away peacefully at his home, on Saturday, August 29, 2020.

Leon was born on June 29, 1930 in Mexicali, BC., MX. He came to t he United States at a y oung age of f ourteen. One of his first jobs he worked at was a soda jerk in Brawley. He would tell us stories of h im making root beer sodas and selling them f or 5 cents. He started working at t hat age in farm labor. He later married Micaela V. Armenta on July 4 , 1949 in Bamoa, Sinaloa, Mexico. He w as a hard- working man, a migrant farm labor worker until his retirement. After his retirement he continued to be very active b y recycling metal, plastic, and glass.

He w as preceded in death by wife, Micaela V. Armenta; daughter, Maria Elena Armenta; son Leonard V. Armenta; daughter- in- law, Earlene Rosas Armenta and grandson, Charles Noah Armenta Grijalva.

He is survived by h is children, Proto (Frances) Armenta of E l Centro, CA, Alfred Armenta of Westmorlan­d, CA, Daniel Armenta of W estmorland, CA a nd E lizabeth (Arthur) Grijalva o f Brawley, C A; siblings, Don (Imelda) Martell of Meza, AZ, Adelaida Ruiz of Yuma, AZ and Refugio Armenta Baez of Y uma, AZ. As well as many grandchild­ren and great- grandchild­ren and numerous n ieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 23, 2020 f rom 6 to 9 p.m. with rosary at 7 p.m. at Frye Chapel and Mortuary in B rawley, CA. Graveside service will be held on Thursday, September 24, 2020 at 10 a.m. at Frye Chapel and Mortuary in B rawley, CA. Burial will immediatel­y follow at R iverview Cemetery in Brawley, CA.
