Feces found in restaurant
State authorities found excrement and salmonella among the ingredients utilized in two Japanese restaurants.
State Commission of Protection against Sanitary Risks Director Marco Aurelio Gámez said the residue was detected after the agency held a series of studies.
The eateries are located in Ejido Nayarit.
Gámez said the residues were found in uncooked ingredients.
The restaurants are Baja Sushi, where traces of feces were found, and Hatos Sushi, where salmonella was located.
Even though personnel have not provided proof of training the first restaurant had been allowed to reopen, Gámez told La Voz newspaper.
The official said feces are commonly found during food preparation. However, if excrement is found in rice or chicken it is due to staff not washing their hands after using the restroom.
The second eatery has not been allowed to reopen. The restaurant must first get rid of all contaminated food.
Recently, 19 clients were affected after eating in the restaurants, according to reports.
