Comité Civico del Valle is providing up to $1,000 per household in cash aid to undocumented immigrants in Imperial County.

The Brawley-based advocacy organization said it has been working in collaboration with Grantmakers Concerned with Immigrants and Refugees since May to assist persons in the county who lack legal immigration status during the pandemic.

The Comunidades de Imperial Immigrant Economic Assistance Fund aims to provide economic support of up to $500 per person, with a maximum of $1,000 per household. Financial support will be provided to undocumented immigrants, DACA beneficiaries, asylum seekers, and refugees living in the Imperial Valley.

Participants are required to fill out a simple online application form found on the Comité Cívico website at www. ccvhealth.org. Those who do not have a computer or a smart phone may call (760) 351-8761 for assistance preparing the application. All applications must be submitted by Nov. 15 at 5 p.m.

Applicants will be reviewed over the course of three to five business days. After this review period, applicants will receive a call from a team member verifying their information. A second call will notify applicants whether they were approved or denied for funding.

Approved applicants will receive a check for $500 by certified mail. Comité Cívico said applicant data is kept confidential and is not shared with any government agency.

The financial support is made possible by private foundations and is not considered a public charge, the organization said.
