Mary Rose Brundy, 101, of C alexico passed away of n atural causes on December 28, 2020.

She was born November 5, 1919 in Miami, Arizona. During her lifetime, Mary lived in various states and countries including Spain, Italy, and the United S tates. B ecause of the Great Depression, her father sold his boarding house business in G lobe, AZ, and returned his family to Spain. Due to the Spanish Revolution, her father saw there was no future in Spain, and returned with his family to Globe, Arizona. H ere, he was unsuccessf­ul at f inding employment, and once more moved the family to Los Angeles, C A where employment was found.

Mary graduated from Lincoln Heights High School and continued living in Los Angeles. B ecause she was fluent in Italian, Spanish, and English, she was hired as a bank teller where she met her husband, Walter H. Brundy.

On August 16, 1942 she married Walter in Los Angeles California. T hey moved to the Imperial Valley in 1949, where they raised 8 children in the city of C alexico. While Walter provided their living by f arming and raising cattle, Mary took care of their children. M ary was well known for her dedication to the Catholic church of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Calexico. Here she would serve as a Eucharisti­c Minister, lector, volunteer, catechist, and was in charge o f the Catechism program for many y ears. She was well known in the community for dedicating countless hours to anyone in need and fundraisin­g with her delicious cooking.

Anyone who met Mary was a better person after their encounter. H er patience, willingnes­s to listen, unceasing love, life of p rayer and service to the Catholic Church define who she was. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter and two sons, Douglas and Dale.

She is survived by children, Catherine (Ken) Banks- Staggs, C arolyn Rodriguez, Walter ( Sharon) Brundy, T om ( Karen) Brundy, M ary A. Brundy and William (Vicky) Brundy; 17 grandchild­ren, and 7 great- grandchild­ren.

Due to COVID- 19 regulation­s, a private service will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
