El Centro Sector Border Patrol agents arrested a man and woman in a stolen vehicle Saturday evening, according to a U.S. Customs and Border Protection release.

The incident occurred about 9:04 p.m., when a man driving a white GMC Yukon and his female passenger approached the Highway 86 checkpoint. Agents directed the truck to enter the secondary inspection area, where a K-9 detection team alerted to the vehicle.

Agents also discovered the vehicle was reported stolen from the city of Calexico. Agents arrested both individuals and held them for further processing.

Records checks revealed that male suspected had an active warrant for possession of stolen property and vandalism out of Kern County. The Kern County Sherriff’s Office will extradite him.

The total weight of the methamphetamine found in the center console was 35.5 grams, with an estimated value of $1,775. The meth found on the woman was 10.7 grams with an estimated value of $535. The total weight of the marijuana was 3.4 grams with an estimated value of $85.
