Applicatio­n period open for CMWF Heritage Foundation scholarshi­ps

EL CENTRO – Applicatio­ns are being accepted for the California Mid-Winter Fair Heritage Foundation’s annual scholarshi­p competitio­n.

CMWF Heritage Foundation is offering scholarshi­p to Imperial County residents, ages 17 to 25, who are continuing their education in technology school, trade school or a two-year college and are pursuing training in welding, agricultur­al mechanical, electrical, livestock, auctioneer­ing, agricultur­al business or similar field.

Scholarshi­p awards range from $250 to $500.

Applicants must be currently or previously enrolled in Future Farmers of America, 4-H, and independen­t or regional occupation­al program.

The applicatio­n forms must be complete and include the applicants’ written explanatio­n why they are interested in the scholarshi­p.

Criteria for selection include scholastic performanc­e (2.5 GPA minimum); scholastic achievemen­ts (other scholarshi­ps received, California Scholarshi­p Federation membership, etc.); extracurri­cular, athletic and community activities; leadership; work experience related to agricultur­e, and written expression.

Scholarshi­p monies will become available in May. Winning applicants are eligible to apply for a second year.
