Richard “Richie” Albert Valencia, 60, of El Centro, CA passed away in peace January 30, 2021 in Imperial County.

He was born December 31, 1960 to Edmundo and Mary (Mason) Valencia. He lived most of his life in El Centro and presided over the concrete cutting department of his father’s company, Ed Valencia and Sons. Richard lived an adventurou­s and selfless life. He lived life to the fullest while enjoying fishing, hunting, and spending time with family and friends. He loved listening to music and playing his collection of guitars. One of his proud accomplish­ments was in off- road racing. He was a Class 7 champion for three consecutiv­e years from 1993- 1996 in the Fudpucker desert series. Richard will be deeply missed and forever be remembered for his charismati­c personalit­y and charming smile. His memory will be carried on in our hearts as we appreciate the good times spent together. May he rest in peace.

He was preceded in death by his brother, James Valencia; father, Edmundo “Ed’’ Valencia, passed away February 26, 2021.

Richard is survived by his children, Thomas Valencia, Samantha Valencia, Ethan Mangus and Nathan Mangus; grandchild­ren, Kristabel, Clarisa and Thomas Valencia; his mother, Mary Valencia; sisters, Irma Rister and Debra Fisher; brothers, Arthur Valencia and Michael Valencia; daughter- in- law, brothers- in- law, sisters- in- law, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Mass will be held on Friday, April 16, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in El Centro. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in El Centro.
