Browning named IVC fiscal services director
The Imperial Valley College board of trustees voted during its March board meeting to approve Stacey Browning as the new director of fiscal services, the college announce in a release.
Browning, a lifelong resident of Imperial County and IVC alumna, was raised in Imperial and graduated from Imperial High School in 2002. She began her postsecondary education at Imperial Valley College, earning an Associate of Science in business administration in 2008. She then later earned a Bachelor of Science in finance and a Master of Science in administration of justice in 2014, both from the University of Phoenix.
Browning worked for the Imperial County Superior Court for six years, assisting in the administration and implementation of court debt collection activities and other court finance operations. She credits her ability to practice diversity and inclusion from her time assisting individuals of varying socioeconomic backgrounds while at the court.
She began working for the Riverside County Superior Court in Indio as an enhanced collections supervisor in 2017. After learning of her father’s cancer diagnosis shortly thereafter, she decided to leave her position to be closer to her family. This move led her to find an opening in IVC’s business services office as an account in April 2018.
“During her time at IVC, Stacey’s valuable knowledge and experience in community college accounting and budgeting, allow her to contribute to and support the fiscal responsibilities of the district,” said Vice President of Administrative Services DeeDee Garcia. “She has a willingness to learn and discover new ways to ensure the success of the district and believes in fostering positive change to stay ahead of the many financial challenges facing higher education. She believes, in the words of the Dalai Lama, ‘ In order to carry a positive action, we must develop here a positive vision.’”
Browning has been married for 16 years and has three daughters, ages 13, 11 and 7.
