Probation officers respond to Caldor Fire
EL CENTRO — Two Imperial County probation officers have been deployed to provide mutual aid assistance to El Dorado County in response to the growing Caldor Fire.
Imperial County Public Information Officer
Gil Rebollar said Deputy Probation Officer III Armando Merino, and Deputy Probation Officer II Oswaldo Guerrero were deployed Tuesday at the request of the El Dorado County Probation Department.
Since their deployment, Merino and Guerrero have assisted in providing relief to local law enforcement personnel and patrolling the evacuated areas of the South Lake Tahoe region. They will continue provide assistance throughout the holiday weekend and for the near future depending on the behavior of the fire and evacuation status.
All of South Lake Tahoe, much of El Dorado County, some areas of Alpine County and parts of Nevada have been evacuated as a result of what has become the highest priority fire in California.
“This underscores the type of commitment that the officers of the Imperial County Probation Department have, not just to the citizens of Imperial County, but to all our fellow citizens across the state,” Chief Probation Officer Dan Prince said.
“We are extremely proud of Officers Merino and Guerrero, and our Probation Department, in protecting and serving those here at home and throughout our state,” Board of Supervisors Chairman Mike Kelley, said. “In addition, it is an honor to assist other counties through California’s public safety mutual system as we have been the recipient of outside help from other agencies.”
