Donnie Lauren Soukup was called to h eaven April 9, 2 022, w ith h er husband John r ight b y her side. Doni was born in Alhambra, CA to Sarah Jewell Miller and Howard Arthur S torrs, s he w as the youngest o f 7 children.

Doni attended school in Westmorlan­d, Calipatria and graduated from Brawley Union High School. After graduating high school, she married and raised h er t wo daughters, L isa and Tiffani in Brawley. Doni met the the love of her life, John in 1992, married in O ctober, 1999 in Laughlin, Nevada. John and Doni enjoyed traveling together, especially to Ixtapa, Mexico annually for 22 years.

Doni retired from Calipatria S tate P rison in 2003. After retirement, John and Doni spent summers in Pinetop, AZ and winters were spent traveling the world, Europe, Asia a nd t he Caribbean for the next 15 years and occasional­ly fun t rips to the casino. Doni loved a fun slot machine! Doni was then diagnosed with Progressiv­e Supranucle­ar Palsy (PSP). After a fouryear battle she went to be with her heavenly family.

Doni was preceded in death by her parents, Jewell and Carl Miller, Howard A. Storrs; brother, Frank Storrs; sisters, Holly F isher and Gracie Ginnis; niece, Loni Kuhn and nephew, Milas Chunky Russell. Doni is survived by her husband, J ohn Soukup; daughters, Lisa (Michael) Curiel Brazeel a nd Tiffani (Randy) Curiel Voutt; stepson, Jason Soukup; grandchild­ren, Michael, Mackenzie a nd Madison Brazeel, Randal and Ryder Voutt and Berkley Soukup; siblings, Katherine Russell, Howard ( Ellen) S torrs, Vickey ( Richard) Windsor and numerous beloved nieces a nd nephews. S pecial t hank you to Martha Bardan, caretaker and friend. Valerie, J ose and Father Juan of Southwest Palliative Care a nd Hospice. Doni's s mile and infectious laugh will be missed by all!

Visitation will be held on M onday, A pril 2 5, 2022 f rom 8 t o 10am a t Frye Chapel & Mortuary 799 S. Brawley A ve. in Brawley, CA. Rosary will begin at 9 am. Mass will begin at 1 0:30 am a t Sacred H eart R oman Catholic C hurch 402 S. Imperial Ave. in Brawley, CA. Burial to follow at Riverview Cemetery.
