JEROME ARCADIO CABANILLA

Jerome Arcadio Cabanilla, 79, after a lengthy stay in a VA Facility, he went gracefully to our Lord at Scripps Hospital. Jerome was born in El Centro, CA, on April 24, 1944, and raised in Niland by his parents, Arcadio and Connie Cabanilla, and four brothers. He graduated from Calipat High School in 1962.

He attended college at College of the Desert, SDSU, and McNeese State, Lake Charles, LA. He married Bernice Marie Savoie in Lake Charles, LA. Bernice and Jerome had two children, Andrea Margaret Cabanilla and son, Jerome Arcadio Cabanilla II; and has two surviving grandchild­ren, Adrian and Aiden.

Jerome entered military active duty in the US Air Force with basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, TX; was stationed at Vandenberg Air Force Base, CA, and Goose Bay, Labrador, Canada; and served for 16 years in the US Navy Reserves, Petty Officer First Class/Aviation Storekeepe­r at North Island.

Jerome was also a fourth-degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Arcadio Cabanilla Jr., who passed away on April 24, 2022; and daughter, Andrea. He is survived by Bernice; son, Jerry; grandchild­ren; brothers, Richard, Lawrence and Danny with special friends; and the sons of Julie Devinicia.

A Celebratio­n of Life with a Rosary/Mass to be held on Thursday, October 19, 2023, at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, Brawley. The internment ashes of both Jerome and Arcadio are to be placed in their parents graves at Riverview Cemetery, Brawley, with Military Honors.
