Apple Music is superior to Spotify
Music is evolving every single day, and so is the way we listen to it. From vinyl to radios, walkmans, CDs, and now a single touch of a screen.
Music is a great way to concentrate during class and entertain oneself while walking in the hallways. In fact, nearly every student at Southwest High School can be seen wearing their headphones at least once a day.
Among the various music streaming platforms available to the general public in this modern age of technology, two stand out as the top competitors for their personalized recommendation algorithm, extensive song collection, and interactive social networking.
According to the website Exploding Topics, Apple Music and Spotify have been the leading streaming platforms for quite some time with Spotify holding 30.5 percent of music streaming market shares and Apple Music with 13.7 percent as of 2024.
Although Spotify surpasses Apple Music’s users, Apple Music beats Spotify in every other aspect because of its advanced sound quality and ability to provide users with an immersive listening experience.
Spotify has yet to provide its users with lossless audio, while Apple has been doing it since June 2021. According to Apple Support, lossless compression preserves all the information and quality of the original data, allowing you to listen to music the way the original artists intended you to.
If I’m listening to one of my favorite songs, I want each and every sound, no matter how tiny or insignificant to be present, and that’s exactly what Apple Music does. According to Apple Support, Apple Music’s sound quality makes songs “virtually indistinguishable from the original studio recording.”
Some people prefer Spotify simply because of the free plan available to those who aren’t willing to pay for the monthly subscription. However, the free plan isn’t even worth the hassle of creating an account considering you can’t listen to a song of your choice without listening to the whole album. Not to mention the limited skips per day and insufferable commercials. It’s basically like using YouTube with triple the amount of ads.
In addition to lossless audio, Apple Music also launched spatial audio with Dolby Atmos in that same update of June 2021. Spatial Audio allows you to listen to music as if the sound were coming from every direction, allowing you to completely envelop yourself in your favorite songs— another feature Spotify has yet to introduce to its subscribers.
If I had to choose between a meal from McDonald’s or unlimited music and exclusive interviews and performances of my favorite artist for a month, I’d spend that $ 10.99 on my Apple Music subscription.
