Bachelorette Jojo Fletcher says “I quit” after learning the truth about her slimy suitors Shocker
When Jojo Fletcher signed on to be The Bachelorette, she hoped to find laughter, love — and a man she could trust. “I want someone honest and genuine,” she explained early in the season, adding that she was sure her instincts would lead her there. “I like to think I have a pretty good read on people, and that my gut steers me in the right direction.”
Unfortunately, it didn’t. Shortly after filming began, the real estate developer, 25, learned that several of this season’s suitors weren’t as perfect as they seemed to be. On that first night of filming, Jojo was confident she had met her future husband. But rumors soon began swirling that several guys in the house — including front-runners Robby Hayes, 27, Jordan Rodgers, 27, and Grant Kemp, 28 — weren’t being honest about their intentions or their past relationships. When Jojo found out, she lost it. “She thought the show was using her for ratings because they cast such jerks,” says a source. “She actually screamed the words, ‘I quit!’” The easygoing Texan felt so duped this season that she threatened to walk out not once, but twice. Adds the source, “She told producers she was done with the show and wanted to go home.”
They convinced Jojo to stay — but she demanded answers. The brunette bombshell made the decision to confront Jordan about a chance encounter she had with his ex-girlfriend Brittany Farrar off camera last winter, before filming began. (As Jojo revealed on the show’s June 20 episode, Brittany had heard that the ex-football player was going to be a contestant this season and felt she should caution Jojo about his cheating past.) “She chose to ignore Brittany’s warning, but as chatter picked up in the house about Jordan’s motives, the secret conversation fueled Jojo’s insecurities,” says the source, adding that although Jordan denied all the claims when Jojo confronted him, it still left her shaken. “She really didn’t know what to believe. It made her question everything.”
Including the other guys. Jojo was also forced to doubt the motives of part-time models (and fan favorites!) Grant and Robby. “Jojo found out during filming that Robby had just broken up with a serious girlfriend, or still had one when he left to film the show,” says the source. As In Touch previously reported, Robby dumped his love of four years, Hope Higginbotham, to join The Bachelorette. “She heard the same kinds of rumors about Grant. It got to the point where Jojo didn’t know who or what to believe. By the end of filming, she wondered if any of the guys had come on the show for the right reason.”
She’s learning now that her suspicions were valid. “Watching the show on TV has made Jojo see that so many of the guys are totally different people than they claimed. It’s like a kick in the gut,” adds the source. “She’s realizing that they were just really good actors and that her instincts were right. Maybe she should have left.” ◼
