Brad walks out on Angelina

Angelina Jolie pushes Brad Pitt too far when she loses it over his beautiful co-star — and Jennifer Aniston

-

Angelina Jolie didn’t like what she saw. In a newly released trailer for Brad Pitt’s 1940s spy thriller Allied, he and Oscar winner Marion Cotillard — who plays his wife in the drama — smolder as their mutual seduction plays out on-screen. “There’s one particularly sexy scene where Marion straddles Brad in a car. It really sent Angelina over the edge. She was beyond resentful,” says a friend of the couple’s. “She confronted Brad about the over-thetop passion, and when he attempted to calm her with the usual ‘it’s just acting’ dismissal, she really went nuclear on him.” Then it was Brad’s turn. “He lost it. It escalated into their worst screaming match ever,” says the friend, after an apoplectic Angelina, 41, demanded to come along for the Allied promotional tour and international premieres in November. “Brad’s usually able to stay in control during their verbal battles, but this time he railed at her, saying not only would she not be accompanying him but that he was done with her insecurity, fits of jealousy and their relationship altogether.” Just days before their second wedding anniversary on Aug. 23, says the friend, Brad, 52, “walked out.” Angelina was still hoping to get Brad to stay at one of their favorite LA hotels for their anniversary and patch things up. This isn’t the first time Angelina’s jealousy has gotten the best of her. “Her insecu- rity about Brad and other beautiful women has grown exponentially over the years,” says the friend. “They already had a litany of marital problems, including his concerns over health and nutrition and their different approaches to parenting. But her jealousy went off the Richter scale when he developed close relationships with Marion as well as another Allied co-star, Lizzy Caplan,” while shooting in England and Spain’s Canary Islands earlier in the year.

It doesn’t matter that both women are in other relationships. Marion, 40, has been with French actor-director Guillaume Canet, the father of her 5-yearold son, since 2007; and Lizzy, 34, got engaged to English actor Tom Riley in May. “Angelina has had many ‘it’s just acting’ interludes on fi lm sets before that turned into full-blown affairs and marriages. There’s Jonny Lee Miller and Billy Bob Thornton, for instance, and of course Brad in [2005’s] Mr. & Mrs. Smith when he was still married to Jennifer Aniston. Angie fears that what goes around comes around,” says the friend.

And then there’s Jennifer. Angelina’s reaction when she learned that Brad had reconnected with his ex-wife, 47, after sending condolences following the death of her mother, Nancy Dow, in May “was the worst of all,” says the friend. “No other woman has ever gotten under Angie’s skin the way Jen does.” And even though Brad and Angie fought back from what the friend describes as “the brink of divorce” in early July during a loved-up family weekend, “Angelina was fuming after catching Brad on a phone call with Jen in late July.”

Brad has grown tired of all the drama. As far as he’s concerned, his and Angelina’s latest altercation over his love scenes with Marion were more than he can take, says the friend. “He’s done.” ◼
