Finding Love Again After Her I AM VERY HAP

The actress-singer talks about her hot new TV show and even hotter new romance

While her pop princess contemporaries had their “Dirrty” phases or had to say “Oops!” over and over, Mandy Moore was the squeaky-clean one. But she did go through some drama when she filed for divorce from musician Ryan Adams in 2015 after nearly six years of marriage. Thankfully, Mandy, 32, learned a few lessons — “Make sure you’re always prioritizing yourself before anyone else,” she tells In Touch — and has bounced back with Dawes front man Taylor Goldsmith, whom she’s been dating for the past year. Here, the actress-singer opens up to In Touch about her new NBC series, This Is Us, her new love and why she calls herself a senior citizen!

What’s your biggest takeaway from your past relationships? MM: Listen to your gut. Listen to your instincts. I think women aren’t told that enough.

What’s it like playing a wife and mother on This Is Us? Does it make you want to have babies in real life? MM: Oh my God, my ovaries are kicking right now majorly. But it’s great, I get to scratch that itch a little bit. And I get to have all of the fun and none of the responsibility!

You have a new man in your life now! Tell us about him. MM: I am very happy! He is a gem of a person. I really lucked out.

Nice. You’ve done a few TV shows before — why this one, and why now? MM: Over the years, I’ve done pilots that haven’t been picked up or haven’t moved forward, and I’m really psyched that this is the one that made it. Everything happens for a reason, I’m a big believer in that.

During your pop star days, how did you avoid trouble? MM: I was never going out to parties and clubbing and all of that stuff. I also have a great family; my parents never wanted to be anything but Mom and Dad to me.

Did you ever feel like you were competing with other

singers, like Britney Spears or Christina Aguilera? MM: I think everyone just let me be me. In the very, very beginning, in my “Candy” video, it was like, OK, great, you’re gonna dance in front of background dancers, and people very quickly realized, Oh, you can’t dance so we’re not going to do that again! You just sing!

What do you think about today’s music stars? Are you a Taylor Swift fan? MM: She’s got some catchy music. But I really am not up-to-date with what the kids are listening to! I just listen to my iphone on shuffle. I’m an old woman.

You’re 32! MM: Yes, but I’m boring. I’m, like, geriatric. I go to bed at 8 o’clock! ◼
