As the custody battle between Angelina and Brad gets even nastier, new details about their relationship are emerging. Mark Billingham, a decorated former British Army soldier who served as the former couple’s head of security for 18 months nearly a decade ago, reveals in an Oct. 16 interview with Britain’s The Sun that he was practically a father to their kids, implying both Angelina and Brad weren’t as hands-on as they claim to be. “They trusted me with the kids. We got very close; I was living with them all the time. I could take the kids anywhere I wanted to on my own.” Mark was shocked when he learned of their split, further evidence that things weren’t as bad as Angelina has made them out to be. He also makes no mention of Brad being a drunk or abusive. But Mark does question Brad’s — and Angelina’s — everyday skills. “What surprised me was their low level of common sense,” he shares, explaining they’d ask him things like, “‘How do I go down to that bar?’ and ‘What do I need to do to get there?’ They’re not stupid, but because of the world they live in, they just haven’t done something like that for so long. I found that weird.”
