OLD CELLPHONE STOPS A BULLET

While Galaxy Note 7 cellphones are exploding in owners’ pockets and sparking house fires, an old Nokia actually stopped a bullet. “A Nokia phone I worked on a few years ago saved the life of a man in Afghanistan last week,” tweeted Peter Skillman, a former Nokia employee, on Oct. 4. The design exec did not ID the man but included this photo (right) of the makeshift lifesaving device, complete with “the embedded bullet.” It may not be smart, but it sure is strong!
