WHERE’S AMAL’S BUMP?

Amal Clooney is pregnant with twins in her second trimester, but you’d never know it

Amal Clooney has a reputation for being incredibly stylish and slim. And when she stepped out for a slew of public appearances in early March — two months after In Touch broke the news that she and George Clooney, 55, are expecting twins, a boy and a girl — it was hard to tell she was even pregnant.

Her small baby bump has sparked worry. Amal, 39, is due in June, and “is glowing and says she feels amazing, but that hasn’t stopped friends from being concerned about her pregnancy weight and her overall thin frame, especially because she’s carrying twins,” says a family insider. For a woman who’s about six months along, adds the insider, “Amal just doesn’t seem that big.”

She’s not. “Amal doesn’t appear to have gained as much weight as most women carrying twins at six months,” nutritionist Lisa Defazio tells In Touch. Amal, who’s 5-foot-9, weighs around 140 pounds and has gained about 15 pounds so far, estimates Dr. Sherry Ross, an ob-gyn who has not treated her. But by six months, the human rights attorney should have put on about 20 pounds. “A woman expecting twins should gain 37 to 54 pounds in total during the pregnancy,” adds Dr. Pari Ghodsi, another ob-gyn who also doesn’t treat Amal.

First-time dad-to-be George is spending a lot of time worrying. “He, of course, is worried about everything pertaining to the pregnancy, but Amal’s weight and health take top priority,” says the family insider. “Are they taking precautions and monitoring her weight? Of course they are. He’s spoken to Amal and her doctor about it, and for now, everything seems to be fine.”

It’s a sensitive topic. “Only a few of their inner circle of friends have even dared to broach the subject with George. They wouldn’t dare discuss it with Amal — only her sister and mom could go there,” says the family insider. “But of course there’s some concern that’s she’s just not bigger at this point in her pregnancy.” ◼
