Do you have a trick for getting through those rough patches? KC: I wish I had some great secret, but it really is just about breathing and remembering that it’s going to pass. Bedtime is always coming, whether it’s five hours away or two hours away, it is coming.

Ever think about having more kids? KC: No — I can’t imagine having another one! There’s no way. We feel like a very complete family.

How much has motherhood changed you? KC: It’s softened me a lot. I have more compassion now, and I really get why family is so important. It is so rewarding and worth it to see these lives that you created. And the love! I really had no idea that my heart was even capable of feeling this way. ◼
