Gavin Rossdale opens old wounds when he drops a bombshell on ex Gwen Stefani
Blake Shelton has often joked about the “crap” deer tracks and barbed wire tattoo he got on his left forearm years ago. But Gwen Stefani’s sons — Kingston, 10, Zuma, 8, and Apollo, 3 — think it’s so cool, they recently got matching (fake) ink. Mom tweeted a snapshot of their adorable bonding moment in April. “They’re just into him…. Who isn’t?” Gwen, 47, gushed in an interview a few weeks later. “We always have fun together.” Well, not always. Nearly two years after Gwen’s marriage to Gavin Rossdale, 51, imploded in the wake of a nanny cheating scandal, her ex is concerned about how Gwen’s romance with Blake, 40, is affecting the boys. Now Gavin and Gwen are at war over the situation. “gavin worries that Gwen and Blake could break up, and that another drastic change in the boys’ lives so soon after his and Gwen’s divorce will cause a lot of emotional despair for the boys,”
says an insider. “So he wants to have a sit-down meeting with Gwen and Blake to discuss the status of the relationship.”
Gwen told Gavin to mind his own business. But he won’t let it go. “Gavin is so concerned,” says the insider, that in a bizarre recent move, “he offered to take the boys for part of the summer to allow Gwen to focus on her relationship with Blake. She turned him down flat!”
Sadly for Gwen, her relationship with Blake really is not going that well. “Gwen and Blake want the world to think everything is perfect, but that’s just not the case anymore,” says a Gwen source, adding that the couple already called off their plans to get married and have kids. “The hype surrounding their love affair, their differences, what they want in life, it’s all adding up to the end. Gwen loves Blake — she always will — but she doesn’t think it’s going to last much longer.”
They’re just too different. “Blake really doesn’t like to be in Southern California when he isn’t filming The Voice. Gwen doesn’t like to go to Blake’s Oklahoma ranch without the boys, and when she does, she’s often bored,” explains the insider. “If the relationship ended tomorrow, Gwen wouldn’t be devastated.”
Gavin thinks their kids will be. “Having Blake out of the picture will be tough on the boys. There will have to be an adjustment period,” acknowledges the source, adding that Gwen hates fighting with her ex. But she also refuses to attend what amounts to a joint therapy session with the two men in her life, says the insider: “She has no desire for a group meeting. She told Gavin that the boys will be fine, whatever happens. Gavin needs to butt out.” ◼
