Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez are back on speaking terms. When Selena, 25, announced on Sept. 14 that she secretly underwent a kidney transplant this summer after battling the autoimmune disease lupus, Justin, 23, called her mom, Mandy Teefey, 41, “to find out what was going on and apologize for the way he treated Selena when they were dating,” says a source. After Mandy let Selena know about the call, the actress, who cut off contact with Justin nearly a year ago, decided it was time to forgive — and texted him. “They’ve been talking and making plans to meet up ever since,” adds an insider, insisting there is nothing romantic going on. “Selena believes that she and Justin are adults now and wants to open a new, healthy chapter with him.”
