Three years after his split from Mariah Carey, the entertainer has only good things to say about her

Nick Cannon tells In Touch how he really feels about his famous ex-wife, Mariah Carey.

Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey endured a rocky breakup in 2014 after six years of marriage. But the rapper and comedian insists that these days, he’s got nothing but love for the diva. “People don’t know she is such a nourishing and giving individual,” the star of MTV’S Wild ’N Out, 37, tells In Touch of his former wife, 48, with whom he shares twins Moroccan and Monroe, 6. (Nick also has a son, Golden “Sagon,” 11 months, with his beauty queen ex Brittany Bell, 30.) “I have never seen someone so giving. [Mariah] remembers everyone’s birthday, favorite color — she’s like one of those types of people, always sending cakes, flowers and balloons.” Here, Nick — who just partnered with Febreze to celebrate the brand’s Super Bowl ad launch — talks to In Touch’s Jaclyn Roth about his kids, Mariah’s boyfriend, dancer Bryan Tanaka, 34, and why he’ll never marry again.

Would you ever get back together with Mariah? NC: In my dreams, maybe!

What would it take to get back together? NC: I don’t know, I’ve never explored it. You’d have to ask her.

What makes her such a good mom? NC: Love. She’s an amazing, outstanding, top-of-theline mother. It’s like Mary Poppins is your mom.

When she started dating her current boyfriend, Bryan, you took some jabs at them. NC: Oh, I always make funny jabs at them! It’s hilarious to me [that they’re together]. They’re enjoying each other, having fun. I’m super cool with him, but I still think it’s funny!

Are your twins entertainers like you and Mariah? NC: It’s in their DNA. They got the ingredients. I want them to be nuclear physicists, but if they’ve got to get on the stage, I guess it’s all right with me.

What have they done that’s impressed you lately? NC: [On] Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Mariah and I took them to a museum and I watched my son, who is 6, read the entire “I Have a Dream” speech. It just brought tears to my eyes.

What about your daughter? NC: She’s just being fabulous like her mama! She’s definitely a superstar — singing and such a bubbly personality. That is my joy right there.

Do they know how famous you are? NC: They think they’re more famous than I am. They told me they couldn’t go into 7-Eleven one time because they were too famous. I was like, “Well, the Slurpee ain’t going to come out here, so get your famous ass in there!”

They have a little brother now. Do you want more kids? NC: One-hundred percent. I want as many as I possibly can!

So will you get married again? NC: No! To me, marriage is a business that society controls, paperwork, which can get in the way. Love shouldn’t be bound. ◼
