FYRE FESTIVAL: KENDALL’S IN THE HOT SEAT!

-

K endall Jenner’s reputation is going up in flames! Just as two new documentaries are sparking renewed outrage over 2017’s notorious Fyre Festival, a judge ruled on Jan. 28 that the agencies representing influencers who promoted it — including Kendall Jenner Inc. — can be subpoenaed in a bankruptcy case involving the disastrous event. “Kendall’s gotten into hot water yet again,” an insider says of the 23-year-old supermodel, who’s been bashed for her controversial Pepsi ad and an overhyped Proactiv endorsement. She earned $250,000 for just one Instagram post about the event in the Bahamas, according to Netflix’ Fyre: The Greatest Party That Never Happened. (Models Bella Hadid, Hailey Baldwin and Emily Ratajkowski also promoted it.) Kendall didn’t have much to say when the whole thing turned out to be a massive scam resulting in a six-year prison sentence for founder Billy Mcfarland, and Kendall has done nothing to help,” says the insider. “While she was making sure her check cleared, there were hardworking locals who were stiffed.” And as the world’s highest-paid model with 103 million Instagram followers hanging on her every word (and a billionaire sister, to boot!), she’s in a unique position to help fix the damage. “I think Fyre will come to epitomize our society’s infatuation with image, celebrity and social media,” attendee Jeffrey Todd tells In Touch, noting that Gofundme campaigns have been set up for the Bahamian employees. Kendall and others who promoted it “could step up. Money would be great, but they also have the opportunity to use their platform — the same platform that started it all — for social good. It would be fitting and a positive end to this story.”
