TOUGH-AS-NAILS TEXAN

THE REAL HOUSEWIVES OF DALLAS STAR SAYS WHAT SHE THINKS, FOR BETTER OR WORSE

-

Real Housewives of Dallas’ most outspoken cast member, Kary Brittingham, doesn’t care what viewers think about her

As the saying goes, don’t mess with Texas. Or at least not with sassy Lone Star State transplant Kary Brittingham, who joined RHOD in Season 4. “People either love me or hate me,” says the Mexico-born mom of four (she shares 12-year-old daughter Isabella with her husband of 11 years, Eduardo, and has Sofia, 22, Olivia, 20, and son Alex, 19, from her first marriage). “I don’t think there are a lot of people who feel in the middle about me.” Here, the jewelry designer talks to In Touch’s Natalie Posner about her feud with castmate Tiffany Moon, turning 50 and her new outlook on life.

Does watching the show make you nervous?

KB:

No. I’m sure I’ll have people loving me and hating me. But isn’t that what it’s all about? That’s life.

What was the highlight of the season for you? KB:

My 50th birthday. Even though I couldn’t go anywhere, Kameron [Westcott] threw the most amazing party for me at her in-laws’ house. I was supposed to be in Saint-Tropez, but I had so much tequila it was like I was there mentally anyway.

How do you feel about turning 50? KB:

I’m like, how is that possible? I

still feel like I’m 22. But it’s a huge milestone and puts things in perspective. It made me think about my friendships.

Speaking of, it looks like you weren’t really friendly with the newest cast member, Tiffany Moon. KB:

I don’t like snakes very much. I don’t like people who are nice to your face but behind your back they’re doing something else. That’s how she is, and I just don’t respect people like that.

How do things stand between you two now? KB:

I’m not in contact with her very much.

How are you getting along with everyone else? KB:

I’m very close with Kameron, Stephanie [Hollman] and Brandi [Redmond], in different ways. I’m close with D’Andra [Simmons], too, even though we fight like sisters. We’re both very fiery.

How have you fared during this past year of quarantine? KB:

Before, my life was going a million miles an hour, and I barely had time to sit down and have a conversation with my kids. So, even though it was a really tough year, it forced us all to slow down and reconnect and realize how important family is. ◼
