Just weeks before her due date, RIHANNA’s baby daddy, A$AP Rocky, is arrested

Rihanna’s world was shattered in an instant. On April 20, a day after frolicking on the beach in Barbados with friends and family, the pregnant singer and her baby daddy, A$AP Rocky, flew home on a private jet to LAX — where police were waiting for them. The rapper was handcuffed and led away from the airport for his alleged involvement in a 2021 shooting. Rihanna, who’s in her third trimester, “was blindsided,” says a source, maintaining the Grammy winner had no prior knowledge of the crime. “She burst into tears and wondered how this can be happening.”

Shortly after he was taken into custody, the LAPD issued a statement confirming A$AP (real name: Rakim Mayers) was arrested in connection to a crime that took place in Hollywood on Nov. 6. He’s suspected of pulling a gun on an acquaintance and firing multiple times. (The victim survived.) The 33-year-old rapper — who had previously served jail time in Sweden for assault for a Stockholm fight — “could face up to nine years in prison if charged with a felony assault with a deadly weapon in the state of California,” highprofile Beverly Hills legal analyst Jeffrey L. Steinberger tells In Touch. Now Rihanna, 34, fears she’ll end up having to raise their baby alone, says the source. “Obviously, Rihanna has all the money in the world to look after the baby. But the plan was for her and A$AP’s child to grow up with both a mom and a dad present.”

WEDDING ON HOLD

Though A$AP is currently out on $550,000 bail, and isn’t expected in court until August, the source says Rihanna has shelved their plans to marry. (The pair were pals for nearly a decade before they started dating in 2020.) “A$AP is saying that someone set him up, and he promised Rihanna that everything will work out,” says the source. “But this really couldn’t have come at a worse time, and it may tear them apart. She’s a wreck.” ◼
