Davidson hits a homer in the seventh as the Dodgers beat the A’s in a spring opener.

THE GAME: Matt Davidson hit a solo home run in the seventh (and final) inning Sunday afternoon, lifting the Dodgers to a 2-1 victory over the Oakland A’s at Hohokam Stadium in Mesa.

PITCHING REPORT: Six Dodger pitchers allowed just two hits in the game . ... LHP Mike Kickham handled the first two innings, allowing a walk and a single . ... RHPs Dennis Santana, Andre Jackson and Michael Grove each pitched a 1-2-3 inning. Grove struck out two of the three batters he faced. ... LHP Garrett Cleavinger gave up the A’s only run. Cleavinger didn’t give up a hit but he walked then hit the first two batters he faced, eventually leading to the run . ... RHP Trevor Bauer is scheduled to make his spring debut with the Dodgers Monday with RHP Walker Buehler expected to pitch Tuesday.

HITTING REPORT: Corey Seager drove in the Dodgers’ first run with an RBI single in the third inning . ... Zach McKinstry, Edwin Rios and Matt Beaty had singles. Beaty was thrown out at home plate by A’s right fielder Buddy Reed while trying to score on Rios’ single.

DEFENSE REPORT: The Dodgers turned double plays in each of the first three innings Sunday. In the first, Austin Barnes threw out Elvis Andrus on an attempted steal as Kickham struck out Chad Pinder. In the second and third, they turned 4-6-3 double plays — McKinstry to Corey Seager to Beaty.
