Texas Roadhouse signs lease in Moreno Valley
Texas Roadhouse is coming to the TownGate Plaza shopping center in Moreno Valley, replacing the Outback Steakhouse that closed in 2020.
The steakhouse chain signed a 15-year lease with landlord Fritz Duda Co., according to Progressive Real Estate Partners.
Texas Roadhouse is expected to open at 22680 Centerpoint Drive in early 2023.
Progressive Real Estate Partners brokers Albert Lopez and Pablo Velasco represented the landlord. Scott Turner with Retail West represented Texas Roadhouse in the transaction.
Other eateries at the shopping center include Olive Garden, Chili’s, BJ Brewhouse, Starbucks, Yogurtland, Buffalo Spot (opening soon).
Texas Roadhouse has
580 locations in 49 states and 22 international locations and is known for its steaks, ribs, side dishes and fresh bread. The Inland Empire region has restaurants in Menifee, Corona, Rialto and Hesperia.
Warehouses proposed for 400 acres of tribal land
The Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians is listing Whitewater Ranch, 216 acres of tribal property, for development in Palm Springs.
Kidder Mathews Senior Vice President Herb Grabell, CRE, SIOR is marketing the property for lease.
Tentative site planning includes space for 2.8-million square feet of warehouse distribution space, ecommerce or a manufacturing facility.
Cannabis programs offered through UC Riverside Extension
UC Riverside is offering an extension program for people interested in honing their skills in the marijuana industry.
The six-month online program costs $2,950 and is offering six different start times each year. Payment plans and discounts for veterans are available.
The university said the programs are designed “as an onramp for those interested in making an impact in the fast-evolving cannabis industry.” Courses are taught by doctors, PhDs and industry experts.
The university is partnering with Green Flower, offering four cannabis-related programs:
— Health care and medicine: how patients can be supported with medical cannabis.
— Business: retail operations, cannabis cultivation, licensing and regulatory compliance.
— Agriculture and horticulture: cannabis production, management and cultivation from seed to sale.
— Law and policy: regulation, compliance and public policy.

$2.4M grant aimed at business incubator in Murrieta
The city of Murrieta has been awarded a $2.4 million grant from the Department’s Economic Development Administration to renovate the Murrieta Innovation Center, adding a life science startup incubator.
The incubator is aimed at growing business and job opportunities in the community. It will support entrepreneurs, startups and nonprofits in the life sciences sector.
The EDA investment is being matched with $607,478 in local funds. The agency estimates the center will help to create 260 jobs, retain 61 jobs and generate $123 million in private investment.
“With these federal resources the Murrieta Innovation Center will be able to grow and help life science startups,” said U.S. Rep.
Ken Calvert. “By attracting and supporting science and technology job creators we can help shape Riverside County’s future economic growth. I want to express my appreciation for the vision and execution by everyone involved in the Murrieta Innovation Center.”
Milestones
Marvin Gambito, a Hemet native and petty officer 1st Class, has been named a Naval Medical Forces Pacific 2021 nominee.
He was one of 13 finalists for the 2022 NMFP Senior Sailor of the Year during a ceremony held at Naval Base San Diego. Gambito has been in the Navy for 16 years.
The finalists represented NMFP commands located from Maryland to Okinawa, Japan. A hospital corpsman at the Pearl Harbor command was chosen as the winner.
Temecula awards gala honors local businesses
The Temecula Valley Chamber of Commerce held its annual awards gala April 2 at Pechanga Resort Casino, hosting some 800 attendees and honoring a dozen businesses and their associates.
