Our beloved father, grandfathe­r, and great grandfathe­r Robert F. Dircks passed away peacefully at the age of 90 on June 6, 2022 with family present. He was a long time resident of Upland, CA.

Robert was born on May 17, 1932 to Harry and Mae (Bartholome­y) Dircks in Jersey City, New Jersey. Robert was preceded in death by his 4 siblings Henry Dircks, Muriel Guszkowski, Eugene Dircks, and Howard Dircks.

Robert attended catholic schools his entire life graduating in 1950 from Holy Trinity High School in West Field, New Jersey. Not only was he a basketball and baseball player in high school but he worked several jobs such as a soda jerk at a local drug store, a movie theater usher and ticket collector, and a gas station clerk.

From 1952 to 1956 Robert was in the Navy during the Korean War where he worked on helicopter­s. After being honorably discharged from the Navy he received a scholarshi­p to play baseball and basketball at University of North Dakota from 1956 to 1959. During this time Robert met and married the love of his life, Dolores J. Dircks on December 20, 1958 at which time it was his idea to adopt her two older children. After graduation, Robert and Dolores made a decision and moved to California for a teaching position, a job he loved and he retired as a principal.

Robert was a long time member of the Elks Club in Ontario, Sierra La Verne Country Club, and Via Verde Country Club enjoying his hobbies and time with friends, golfing, playing bridge, attending Reign Hockey games and his football pools.

Robert is survived by his 4 children Dale (Diane) Dircks, Michele (Terrey) Torrey, Brenda (Eric) Hopley, and Brian (Janet) Dircks. Robert is also survived by his 9 grandchild­ren, and 11 great grandchild­ren all of which he loved very much.
