Fireworks shows, picnics and parades on tap across region

Fourth of July events — from fireworks to picnics to parades — are scheduled across the Inland Empire in the coming days.

Area Independen­ce Day celebratio­ns include the following.

Riverside County

CORONA

Corona’s Main Street USA Independen­ce Day Parade will be Monday.

It will begin at 9 a.m. on Main Street and move from Ontario Avenue to Olive Street. After the event, a celebratio­n with live music, food and fireworks will be at Santana Regional Park, 598 Santana Way. Fireworks start at sundown.

Preferred parking is available in advance online through Thursday, June 30, as space permits. Parking will be $20 the day of the event. Free parking is available at Crossroads Christian Church, 2331 Kellogg Ave.

LAKE ELSINORE

The Kids Bike Parade will take place during Lake Elsinore’s Party in the Park at Summerly Park on Monday.

The event is from 10 a.m. to noon at the park, 18505 Malaga Road. Supplies to decorate bikes will be available. The parade is set for 10:30 a.m.

Fireworks start at 9p.m. Fireworks viewing locations include Lakepoint Park, Summerly Park, Swick & Matich Park and Whiskers Fishing Beach. Paid viewing locations include commercial campground­s, Launch Pointe, The Diamond stadium and by boat on the lake.

MORENO VALLEY

A parade, Family FunFest and fireworks are set in Moreno Valley on Monday.

Those attending the FunFest at the Civic Center Amphitheat­er should bring lawn chairs, umbrellas or canopies because seating is limited. The event will include a beer garden, food vendors and live bands. Gates open at 2 p.m. After 4p.m., admission is $3per person but children under 5 are free. Fireworks start at 9p.m. The amphitheat­er is at 14075 Frederick St. The parade will run from 9:30 a.m. to noon. It starts at Frederick Street and Alessandro Boulevard, moving north on Frederick Street, then west onto Towngate Boulevard.

NORCO

Horse riders are invited to the Norco Mayor’s Equestrian Trail Ride and costume contest Monday.

The event is at the George Ingalls Event Center, 3737 Crestview Drive. Parking is in lot 2. Registrati­on starts at 8:30a.m.; the ride departs at 9:30a.m. Prizes will go to the most patriotic horse and rider. Riders under 18must wear helmets. A picnic in the park is set for 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Pikes Peak Park, 97Sixth Street. The free event will include live music, crafts and activities. Food and drinks can be purchased.

RIVERSIDE

The Concert for Heroes will return and is set for Sunday at Riverside National Cemetery.

The 7:30 p.m. show will be in the amphitheat­er at the cemetery, 22495Van Buren Blvd. The Riverside Philharmon­ic, led by Music Director Tomasz Golka, will perform. The event will also feature fireworks. There is seating in the amphitheat­er, but guests should bring lawn chairs and flashlight­s.

RIVERSIDE

The city’s free fireworks shows are set for 9 p.m. Monday at two viewing locations.

The displays will be at La Sierra Park, 5215 La Sierra Ave., and Ryan Bonaminio Park, 5000 Tequesquit­e

Ave. Each park will offer entertainm­ent, food and booths. Guests are urged to bring blankets and chairs. La Sierra and Carlson Dog Park will be closed all day after 7 a.m.

TEMECULA

A Star Spangled Parade will begin at 10 a.m. in Old Town Temecula on Monday. Parking is at the Old Town Parking Garage and will be available until 9:45 a.m. via Mercedes Street. Old Town Front Street will be closed from 9 a.m. until noon. A celebratio­n will continue at Ronald Reagan Sports Park, 30875Ranch­o Vista Road, and will include food vendors, a kids zone and entertainm­ent. Fireworks start at 9 p.m.

San Bernardino County

CHINO

A celebratio­n and fireworks show is set for the holiday weekend at Ruben S. Ayala Park.

The event will include live performanc­es, food, booths, carnival rides and games. The celebratio­ns start at 4 p.m. Friday and 1 p.m. Saturday. Fireworks will start at 9 p.m. Saturday. The park is at 14225 Central Ave. Informatio­n: 909-3343258

The annual Independen­ce Day celebratio­n and concert will be 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday at Veterans Park, 14877 Eucalyptus Ave. Families can enjoy live music, strolling entertainm­ent, game booths, a food-eating contest, food vendors and more. Chino Valley Young Marines will present the colors during a ceremony that begins at 11:30 a.m.

Live music will be performed by Petty and the Heartshake­rs, a tribute to Tom Petty and the Heartbreak­ers, from 11:45 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Free City of Chino Hills patriotic sunglasses will be distribute­d to all attendees at the City of Chino Hills

FONTANA

A Fourth of July celebratio­n is scheduled from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at Miller Park Amphitheat­er, 17004 Arrow Blvd.

There will be fireworks, music, and food and novelty vendors. The Yachtley Crew is scheduled to perform. Admission is free. Informatio­n: 909-3496946

HIGHLAND

A parade is set for 9 a.m. Monday.

It will start at the corner of Church Avenue and Base Line Street, and move west on Base Line, south on Central Avenue and end at the Highland Family YMCA. Fireworks are set for Immanuel Baptist Church, 28355 Base Line. Gates open at 6 p.m. The event will include food, music and activities. Guests should bring blankets and lawn chairs. ONTARIO

Celebratio­ns kick off with an Independen­ce Day Parade at 9 a.m. Monday, followed by a Fourth of July Concert with The Ontario/Chaffey Community Show Band at Ontario Town Square (approximat­ely 10:30 a.m.) and the All-States Picnic along the Euclid Avenue median (approximat­ely 10:30 a.m.). The Fireworks Spectacula­r with family fun and festivitie­s is set for 5-9p.m. at Westwind Park, 2455E. Riverside Drive. Organizers have planned live entertainm­ent, games and food vendors. The fireworks show beings at 9 p.m.

REDLANDS

Independen­ce Day activities in Redlands will start at 9 a.m. Monday at Sylvan Park, and conclude with a fireworks show at Moore Middle School.

Free festivitie­s at the park, 601N. University St., will include live music, games and booths. A parade around the park is set for 10:30 a.m. The school will open at 5:15 p.m., and celebratio­ns there will include a live music, skydivers, flyovers and fireworks. The campus is at 1550 E. Highland Ave. Tickets are required for the event at the school and are $12 in advance or $15 that day. They can be bought at the City Clerk’ Office, 35 Cajon St.; Gerrards Market, 705 W Cypress Ave.; or online.

RIALTO

The city’s Fourth of July Celebratio­n is scheduled

UPLAND

The city hosts its annual Light Up The Night 4th of July Fireworks Spectacula­r with gates opening at 5:30 p.m. Monday, with entertainm­ent from Electric Vinyl beginning at 7 p.m. Participan­ts can check out food vendors, a Kids’ Zone, beer garden, and watch planes of all types take off and land at Cable Airportt. The fireworks show is set to begin at 9 p.m.

Tickets are $10 in advance, $12 at the door. Children 2 and younger may attend at no cost. Presale tickets are available at City Hall, Magnolia Recreation Center and Gibson Senior Center in Upland and Bert & Rocky’s Cream Company in Claremont. Hours vary.

Before the show, families can join the Firecracke­r 5K and 1K Kids’ Dash beginning at 7 a.m. Saturday at McCarthy Park, 20th Street and San Antonio Avenue in Upland. Onsite, mobile registrati­on will be available beginning at 6 a.m. Registrati­on fees are $35for the 5k, $25 for kids’ dash.

After the run, families can head over to the Red, White, And Blue Wheels On Parade, featuring decorated scooters, bikes, wagons, pedal cars and more, beginning at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at McCarthy Park. The free event is for children under age 12, all will get a participat­ion gift.

Los Angeles County

CLAREMONT

Claremont’s day of celebratio­n Monday starts at 7a.m. A pancake breakfast will be at Memorial Park, 840N. Indian Hill Blvd. A parade is set for 10a.m. at the park and will move south on Indian

Hill, west on Harrison Avenue and end at Larkin Park.

The Kiwanis Club will serve barbecued food at 5 p.m.

The Ravelers will perform at 6p.m. The concert replaces a fireworks show, which was canceled because of new water restrictio­ns.

LA VERNE

La Verne’s celebratio­n will include a parade and fireworks Monday.

The parade will start at 10 a.m. at the corner of 10th and D streets. Fireworks will follow at Bonita High School, 3102 D St. Gates will open at 5 p.m. for the 7 p.m. show. Tickets are $10 per person for those 5 and older. Children 4 and under are free.

POMONA

A day of entertainm­ent is set for Monday and organized by Pomona Fairplex and Unity Day L.A.

A free half-mile walk at 10 a.m. will be followed by the unveiling of a Harriet Tubman statue at Lincoln Park, 400 Lincoln Ave.

Afternoon events start at 2:30 p.m. at Fairplex, 1101 W. McKinley Ave. Activities will include boxing, live performanc­es, food and fireworks. General admission begins at $15.99 for children and is $20 for adults after 6 p.m.
