Kalaveras adds location in Rancho Cucamonga

-

Mexican restaurant Kalaveras, which is in Chino Hills and Riverside, now also has a location in Rancho Cucamonga.

The restaurant is at 10276 Foothill Blvd., a spot with a long history of Mexican restaurants, most recently Fonda Don Chon.

Old-timers may remember when it was The Whole Enchilada.

Hours are 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Sundays, 11 a.m.-11 p.m. Mondays-Thursdays, 11 a.m.-2 a.m. Fridays and 10 a.m.-2 a.m. Saturdays.

The chain is also planning restaurants in Montclair and Corona.

Brewery to open

We now have a date for the opening of Neon Bear Brewery in Pomona.

The brewery is expected to open Aug. 5, according to the Instagram account of Brewery Operations Manager Ryan Walton.

Neon Bear is in the Pomona Packing Plant in the space formerly occupied by Sanctum Brewing Co., 560 E. Commercial St., Unit 21.

New brew

Hangar 24 Craft Brewing will release the latest beer in its experimental series today.

Tasting notes for X3PLSNR are a little vague, though we do know it has a “bright straw gold clear appearance with a lingering snow-white head,” according to a brewery announcement.

The announcement also says the “aroma has delicate notes of cracker or cereal with a refreshing wisp of a summer’s morning dew.”

And for the flavor? It’s “in a category all its own,” the announcement continues.

Perhaps you just need to taste it for yourself to find out.

The first beer in the series — X1-PL-ALE — won a gold medal at the U.S. Open Beer Championship.

Also, the brewery is celebrating National American Craft Beer Week, through Saturday, by offering $1 off pints and 15% off membership in its experimental beer series Flight Test Program, which grants early access to the series as well as a crowler of each beer, along with other perks.

Hangar 24 Craft Brewing is at 1710 Sessums Drive, Redlands.

Vegan fare fair

I.E. Vegan Sundays is hosting another event in downtown San Bernardino, set for noon-4 p.m. Sunday at 478 N. D

St.

Many vegan food and goods vendors are promised, including Wolf Mentality, Impeccable, SreyVegan, Love Amaro Pizza, Aguas Veganas, Shibby Steaks and Shane’s Tamales.

There will also be a beer garden, and music will be provided by Luis the DJ.

Additional events are planned for Aug. 14 and 28.

Sorry, we’re closed

Apparently, San Bernardino and Riverside aren’t cheesesteak towns.

Lefty’s Cheesesteaks locations in those cities have closed.

When it opened last year, the location in the Woodcrest area of Riverside was the chain’s first California location.

The chain, which is based in and has the bulk of its locations near Detroit, appears to still have one California location, in San Diego.

Also closed is the Ontario outlet of Noodle World Jr.

The restaurant was in the Daybreak Plaza on the outskirts of Ontario Mills mall.

Locations in Upland and Montclair Place appear to be open.
