UCR faces CSUN, looks to rebound

UC Riverside’s men’s basketball team is looking to get back into the win column when they play host to Cal State Northridge today at the SRC Arena on campus.

The Highlander­s are coming off an 80-56 Big West Conference loss at Cal State Bakersfiel­d. Corey Stephenson had 21 points and 11 rebounds for the host Roadrunner­s (6-11, 1-5) late on Thursday night.

Benjamin Griscti had 16 points to lead UCR (7-12, 2-5) and Nate Pickens hadd 11 points.

Northridge, led by former coach at Cal State San Bernardino coach Andy Newman is coming off a 97-69 loss Thursday night at UC Santa Barbara. Keonte Jones had 21 points and eight rebounds for the Matadors (13-5, 4-2) and Gianni Hunt had 12 points and eight assists.

Andre Henry scored 18 points as the Anteaters improved to 6-0 in conference play.

Marcus Tsohonis had 20 points and Jadon Jones scored 19 for the 49ers (12-7, 4-3).

UC Davis 67, Cal State Fullerton 65 >> Elijah Pepper had 27 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Aggies (11-7, 6-1). Max Jones had 18 points and Tory San Antonio added 12 points and six rebounds for the Titans (810, 1-5). for Fullerton. Beril Kabamba also had 11 points and seven rebounds.

CBU FACES SOUTHERN UTAH >>

California Baptist’s men’s team plays host to Southern Utah (6-11, 1-5) in a WAC game at the Dale E. and Sarah Ann Fowler

Southern Utah is coming off a 76-65 victory over Utah Teach led by 23 points from Dominique Ford.

The Lancers (10-7, 3-3) are 8-3 at home this season. Guard Dominique Daniels Jr. leads CBU averaging 17.7 points per game.

Kasean Pryor made a go-ahead free throw with 4 seconds left, and USF rallied from a 20-point deficit to win at Memphis. Pryor finished with 21 points and 10 rebounds, and reserve Selton Miguel led USF with 23 points, going 5 of 10 from 3-point range. The Bulls (10-4, 3-1 American Athletic Conference) have won eight of nine and ended a 10-game winning streak for the Tigers (15-3, 4-1), who hadn’t lost since a narrow defeat at Mississipp­i on Dec. 2.

CORAL GABLES, Fla. (AP) — Jasmyne Roberts, Shayeann Day-wilson and Lashae Dwyer scored 18 points each and as the Hurricanes stunned the shorthande­d Wolfpack at Coral Gables, Fla.

N.C. State (15-2, 3-2) rallied from a 14-point deficit early in the third quarter to cut it to 56-50 but the Hurricanes responded with a 14-2 run for a 70-52 lead. NC State was without their top scorer, 6-foot-5 center River Baldwin, who missed her third straight game because of an ankle injury.
