Osborne, No. 2 UCLA women roll past visiting Washington

Charisma Osborne scored 17 points and Londynn Jones added 13 to lead the No. 2 UCLA women to a 62-44 win over Washington Friday night at Pauley Pavilion.

The Bruins (16-2, 5-2 Pac-12) had lost two of their last three games before beating the Huskies. With a 10-point lead in the fourth quarter, UCLA went on a 10-0 run late to build a 60-40 lead.

“We’ve got a lot to work on but I’m happy we won ugly,” UCLA coach Cori Close said.

Washington (12-6, 2-5) has lost six of its last seven games. Dalayah Daniels had a team-high 14 points.

Lauren Betts, UCLA’S leading scorer at 15.4 points per game and one of the top players in the country, did not play due to undisclose­d medical reasons. Washington’s Jayda Noble, a starter, did not make the trip to Los Angeles for undisclose­d reasons.

UCLA and Washington were both cold from in the first half. The Bruins made just 8 of 39 shots (20.5%, their lowest field-goal percentage for a half) in the first half while Washington made just 30%.

The Bruins, however, shot 41% in the second half and outrebound­ed Washington 50-37 in the game.

UCLA had seven turnovers in the first quarter but just six through the next three quarters. The Bruins turned it around in the second half, making 15 of 36 shots. Osborne made a 3-pointer from the left wing at the halftime buzzer to give the Bruins a 23-21 halftime lead.

The Bruins outscored the Huskies 23-15 in the third quarter to take a 4636 lead. Osborne had a pair of tough three-point plays in the quarter.

“I was just trying to attack the basket,” Osborne said. “Focusing on attacking and finishing through contact. I think that helped me so much to be able to finish those shots.”

NO. 11 USC 70, WASHINGTON STATE 62>>

Juju Watkins scored 29 points with seven rebounds, three steals and three blocks as the Trojans won at home.

Mckenzie Forbes added 22 points for USC (14-3, 4-3 Pac-12), which snapped a two-game losing streak. Watkins, a freshman who missed one game this season, has led USC in scoring in every game she has played.

Donovyn Hunter and Talia von Oelhoffen each scored 16 points to lead the Beavers in Corvallis.

Raegan Beers, Oregon State’s leading scorer, had just six points but had a team-high eight rebounds. The Beavers (16-3, 5-3) improved to 13-0 at home.

Jaylynn Sherrod led Colorado (16-3, 6-2) with 19 points before fouling out.

Alissa Pili scored all 16 of her points in the second half as the host Utes (15-5, 5-3 Pac-12) rallied to beat the Ducks (11-10, 2-6) for the 1,000th win in program history.

Pili, a former USC star and the reigning Pac-12 player of the year, had all 12 of Utah’s points in the fourth quarter until her teammates contribute­d three free throws in the closing seconds. 20-point mark for the 12th time this season. Cadeau shot 8 of 9 from the freethrow line and had six assists as North Carolina (173, 9-0 ACC) extended its win streak to 10 games.

Primo Spears scored 15 for Florida State (12-8, 6-3).

NO. 4 HOUSTON 74, KANSAS STATE 52 >>

Jamal Shead scored 17 points, J’wan Roberts had 14 points and six rebounds and the Cougars won their fourth in a row.

Houston (18-2, 5-2 Big 12) built a 20-point lead by halftime and won its 17 straight home game. The Cougars converted 18 turnovers into 25 points.

Cam Carter scored 16 for Kansas State (14-6, 4-3).

MISSISSIPP­I STATE 64, NO. 8 AUBURN 58 >>

Josh Hubbard scored 15 of his 17 points in the second half and Cameron Matthews had 14 points and 11 rebounds as the Bulldogs topped the visiting Tigers.

DJ Jeffries made 3 of 4 free throws in the final 11 seconds and grabbed 12 rebounds to help seal the win for Mississipp­i State (14-6, 3-4 SEC).

Johni Broome scored 14 for Auburn (16-4, 5-2).
