Gail Anne Gonzalez Lopez

Gail Anne Gonzalez Lopez, 73, passed away peacefully on January 20, 2024, with her family by her bedside in Adelanto, California. Gail was born on August 27, 1950, in East Los Angeles, California, to Charles and Doris Gonzalez. Gail was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and her family meant everything to her. She was married to John L. Lopez on November 6, 1976, and they celebrated 48 wonderful, loving years together while raising their five children.

Gail was known for her love of cars, learning how to rebuild engines with her husband, and knowing all there was to know about any car, particularly MOPAR. Gail’s love for children was very apparent, as she babysat many throughout the years. She enjoyed learning about her heritage and meeting new family members through genealogy.

Gail is survived by her husband, John Lopez, and her five children: Carla Asmundson (Stephen), Anna Hughes, Elizabeth Galvan, John Lopez (Rosa), and Michael Lopez. She loved each of her grandchildren, and boy did she have many: 19 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, her brother Charles Gonzalez (Carmela), sister Janine Duran, and many nieces and nephews. Gail was preceded in death by both her parents, Charles and Doris Gonzalez, brother Wayne Gonzalez, and brother-in-law Manuel (Sonny) Duran.

A memorial service will be held on February 17, 2024, at Chapman Funeral Home, 51 Huntington Dr., Arcadia, CA 91012, at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the American Diabetes Association.

Mom, there will not be a day that goes by that we don’t think of you. We will miss you every day! We cherish the time that we had with you. Until we meet again, I love your family.
