David Timothy Lewis

David Timothy Lewis passed away at his home in Hemet, CA, on January 25 following a courageous two-year battle with glioblasto­ma, a rare form of brain cancer. David was born in Glendale, CA, and grew up in Riverside. He attended La Granada Elementary, Wells Intermedia­te, Norte Vista H.S., and RCC. David later served in the U.S. Navy. aboard the USS Rainier for three years. Following his service, he completed his education, earning his BA from GCU in education and his teaching credential in Special Ed. from CSUSB. David taught pre-school special education students in the Rialto School District up until his death. Whatever David did and wherever he went, he was known and loved for his unfailing optimism, humor, and ever-present radiant smile. He will be forever loved and missed.

David is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Dondi; his son David John Lewis; step-children Desiree, Daniella, Brent Hawkins, Jr. (Alana), and their son Bronson; his parents, David and Melanie Lewis; sisters Tracy Moreno (Art), Amy Lewis; and brother Patrick Lewis (Nicole). He is also survived by his in-laws Dennis and Dianne Eckert, as well as numerous extended family and friends.

A memorial service for David will be held on Thursday, February 22, at 10:30 a.m. in the Acheson and Graham Garden of Prayer Chapel in Riverside. A committal service will follow at Riverside National Cemetery. A reception in his honor will be held at the Grove Community Church in Riverside immediatel­y following the services. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the National Brain Tumor Society in David's memory.
