Daniel Hantman passed away on February 14, 2024 after a prolonged illness. He was born on January 19, 1942 in Los Angeles to Marcia and Jacob Hantman. His kind demeanor and caring actions and attitudes inspired all of us in our city, and his impact on mankind was felt throughout the world. He was a man of great intelligen­ce, purpose, ethical values and kindness. His educationa­l background included attending UCLA and UC Berkeley. After graduation, he joined the Peace Corps and went to Thailand, spending 8 years supervisin­g the establishm­ent of the English language schools throughout the country. He attended the University of San Fernando Valley College Of Law and was a member of the Riverside County Bar Associatio­n, serving as Bar President for a term. In 2012 he was awarded the E. Aurora Hughes Meritoriou­s Award for Service. He was an active member of the Suddhavasa Buddhist Meditation Center and a congregant at Temple Beth El. His volunteer and community service were extensive, from being the Chambers official Way- Finder, and Adopt a street Program where you could see him picking up litter with his BIG Sombrero hat on Central between the 60 fwy and Canyon Crest. He was named Citizen of the Year for his volunteeri­sm. He was often called “Mr Riverside” by Riverside Chamber members. He was an ardent supporter of La Sierra University. He is survived by his life partner, Marcia Gilman, who cherished him and was his loving caregiver and medical advocate. He is survived by his brother, Dr. David Hantman, sister Elizabeth Rudzinski and grandson of the heart, Noah Gilman-morgan.

Services will be held at Riverside Temple Beth El, 2675 Central Avenue at 4p.m. on Wednesday, March 6, 2024 to reminisce, grieve and show our love and support for his presence on Earth. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Alzheimer’s Associatio­n or to the La Sierra University Student Scholarshi­p Fund.
