Interferry2023 Conference Guide
Global business with an Australian heart How UES Marine is bringing innovative design to some of the world’s most exciting projects
UES Marine is a global business with sales, manufacturing and support capabilities across the world – but it’s also an Australian success story and is excited to support Interferry as it returns to Hobart this year with a focus on sustainability, elevating the customer experience and finding the leading edge.
“UES Marine has a project catalogue that stretches around the globe and includes names like the Staten Island Ferry, Brittany ferries in Europe, BC Ferries in Canada, but we are also very proud of our history as an Australian family-owned business, and Australian passion and innovation are a big part of our success,” says General Manager Wendy Lawrence.
UES Marine is headquartered in Australia, with manufacturing facilities in Australia and globally, including a new European manufacturing facility on the way.
“We are committed to our customers wherever they are in the world, including Australian projects like the iconic Sprit of Tasmania, which we are honoured to say we have been working with for a number of years ahead of its vessel launch ,” Wendy says.
Luxury, innovation meet in the Haven pod
Interferry2023 will provide visitors with the first opportunity to see some UES Marine’s latest seating products, including the beautiful Haven Pod first class seat, the LuxForm Journey premium passenger seat with adjustable recline, and new theatre seating designed to meet the needs of the most discerning passengers.
“Vessel builders and designers are always working to deliver the best possible experience for their riders, and as expectations change, we’re innovating at pace to ensure we can support our customers with the furniture that is stylish, functional, and customisable.
“All of the products being showcased by us at Interferry are completely modular and customisable, so every vessel designer can create the experience that matches the needs and desires of their ridership.
Working alongside our clients to come up with the exact solution they need is an essential part of every project for us,”Wendy says.
Putting the rider at the centre of the design process doesn’t mean forgetting about the transport operator’s bottom line requirements, she notes.
“We aim to deliver maritime furniture that places the passenger at the centre of the design and decision-making process without overlooking the need for commercial viability. From fabric selection to design and product variations, we work with designers, ship builders and other stakeholders to deliver a project that creates positive outcomes all round.”
Across the range, from the simplest seats for short trips to the most luxurious lie-flat sleeper seats, the range is lightweight, strong and modular for design flexibility and lower costs. Lighter components also deliver a better environmental profile, which is critical as the focus on sustainability continues to intensify.
Connect at Interferry
UES Marine’s Interferry presence will include the brand’s key leadership, with Wendy being joined at the event by the Executive Chair of UES International, Alex Morcos.
“When we say we are committed to creating partnerships and building relationships, that’s an ethos that runs right through the business,” Wendy says. “Alex maintains very close connections with industry and we’re both looking forward to meeting with new and existing customers during Interferry. Our team will be delighted to talk about how we can work alongside you to create the right furniture and seating approach for your project, whether it’s in Australia or anywhere in the world,” she says.
