INITIAL BLOCK-IN

After I’ve transferred the sketch as an outline onto my paper, I begin the initial blockin, working in one or two colors to capture the darkest darks and the anatomy of her face. I find that every brand has similar colors, only their names differ. I use very sharp Polychromos caput mortuum violet and olive green yellowish at this step. Her skin has lots of olive green in the shadows, and this reddish dark brown is perfect for her hair. » Black
