Mammoth Lakes Film Festival makes top ‘coolest’ festival list
Movie Maker’s magazine touts Mammoth with Aspen, Austin, Luxembourg, among others
Mammoth Lakes Film Festival has been named one of Movie Maker’s 25 Coolest Film Festivals of 2022, according to the magazine’s Summer 2022 edition.
The annual list recognizes festivals that go out of their way to be innovative, welcoming, and “simply cool.” The full list of festivals is below.
“We are so honored to be part of this exclusive list,” said Festival Director and Founder Shira Dubrovner. “We work hard to provide a unique experience for our filmmakers and keep to our vision and it is truly paying off. Filmmakers from around the world are singing our praises and now Movie Maker Magazine thinks we are ‘cool’ What more could we ask for!”
Movie Maker editor-inchief Tim Molloy said the list was chosen by a “brilliant panel of moviemakers and film experts.”
“All 25 offer unforgettable, unique, happy experiences,” Molloy said. “They’re cool in the sense of ‘Whoa, that’s cool!,’ but also cool in terms of people being relaxed and nice to each other.”
Mammoth Lakes Film Festival is a DBA non-profit organization and was founded by Mammoth local performing arts producer Dubrovner in 2015.
Dubrovner notes in a recent release that as the festival enters its ninth season “we are pleased to state that we have been on the Movie Maker Magazine list of the 50 Film Festivals Worth the Entry Fee for the past seven years.”
“We bring filmmakers from all around the world to beautiful Mammoth Lakes to share their innovative talent with our mountain community every Memorial Day weekend.”
Filmmaker and jury panelist Noel Taylor, who is cited in the Movie Maker. com article, said “a truly curated assemblage of innovative and evocative films seem to make their way to Mammoth Lakes Film Fest every year. A tightly packed fest with top-notch weirdness and intrigue nestled in the beautiful northern California town of the same name.”
