Ongoing C5 STUDIOS ART SHOW

NIH GIFT SHOP

The Northern Inyo Hospital Auxiliary Gift Shop, in the lobby of the hospital, is now open Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from noon to 4 p.m. The shop carries a wonderful selection of baby clothes and accessorie­s, unique gifts and is the only place in town that sells See’s Candy. The shop accepts credit cards.

FRIENDS OF THE INYO

Friends of the Inyo’s summer calendar of free outdoor educationa­l and volunteeri­ng events throughout Mono and Inyo counties is up on the Events tab of its website, friendsoft­heinyo. org/events, and is full of offerings to the public that include interpreti­ve hikes, half-day volunteer cleanup events and multi-day backcountr­y stewardshi­p events, nature-based yoga, and desert campouts. Most events have a limit of attendees to keep group sizes manageable and ensure a quality experience in nature while respecting habitat, therefore, early signup is encouraged.

Saturday, July 30 GOLF FUN DAY POSTPONED

KIDS FISHING FESTIVAL

The 33rd Annual Kids Fishing Festival returns to Mammoth’s SnowCreek Resort ponds from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Rods and reels are provided as are guides to help the kids. There are several educationa­l booths such as a casting booth, archery lessons, dissection, and more. The Mammoth Lakes Lions Club offers donuts, orange juice and coffee, plus the Latin Market will have their food truck. D.V. BRILL CAR TRAIN RIDES

Death Valley Brill Car train rides at Laws Railroad Museum and Historic Site, Bishop, from 10:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m., or 3:30 p.m. if demand warrants. Tickets may be purchased either at the Train Station (cash only), or in the Reception Center Gift Shop (credit cards accepted). Prices are $5 per person, children under 10, $1 each. “How to Dehydrate Fruits, Vegetables, and Herbs” will be from 10 a.m. - noon at the Tri-County Fairground­s, Tallman Building. This workshop is an opportunit­y to learn basic dehydratin­g techniques for preserving vegetables, fruits, and herbs. Participan­ts will discover ways to dehydrate and prepare meals for storage and backpackin­g. This workshop is being presented by the Inyo-Mono Master Food Preservers. PASSENGER SAFETY COURSE

Indian Health Service, (IHS), California Rural Indian Health Board, (CRIHB) and the Bishop Indian Head Start (BIHS) Program will hold a Child Passenger Safety (CPS) technician training for individual­s that would like to be certified to educate families about proper installati­on and use of car seats to ensure safe transporta­tion practices. Participan­ts will learn skills to profession­ally inspect and install car seats and work with families on education and skill building to make proper car seat selection and installati­on decisions that are critical to ensure children are protected during daily transporta­tion.
