NIH GIFT SHOP
The Northern Inyo Hospital Auxiliary Gift Shop, in the lobby of the hospital, is now open Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from noon to 4 p.m. The shop carries a wonderful selection of baby clothes and accessories, unique gifts and is the only place in town that sells See’s Candy. The shop accepts credit cards.
FRIENDS OF THE INYO
Friends of the Inyo’s summer calendar of free outdoor educational and volunteering events throughout Mono and Inyo counties is up on the Events tab of its website, friendsoftheinyo.org/events, and is full of offerings to the public that include interpretive hikes, half-day volunteer cleanup events and multi-day backcountry stewardship events, nature-based yoga, and desert campouts. Most events have a limit of attendees to keep group sizes manageable and ensure a quality experience in nature while respecting habitat, therefore, early signup is encouraged.
Tuesday, Aug. 9 COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
The Inyo County Board of Supervisors meets in regular session at 10 a.m. with the agenda available at the county website, www.inyocounty.us. The meeting will be held in the Board Chambers at the County Administrative Center in Independence, 224 N. The Indian Creek Westridge Community Service District will hold its regular quarterly Board meeting on at 6 p.m. at the Christian Science church at the corner of W. Line Street and Grandview Drive.

The Bishop Creek Water Association board is scheduled to meet at 7 p.m. The agenda and Zoom instructions for the meeting can be found association’s website, www.bishopcreekwater.org. Among the items that the board will be discussing is approval of an operations plan for dealing with low ditch flows during this extremely dry year.
C5 STUDIOS OPEN MIC NITE
C5 Studios, 210 S. Warren St., Bishop, will be hosting an open mic nite for local entertainers to perform poetry, music, comedy, etc., with sign-up from 6:30 - 7 p.m.
PASSENGER SAFETY COURSE
Indian Health Service, (IHS), California Rural Indian Health Board, (CRIHB) and the Bishop Indian Head Start (BIHS) Program will hold a Child Passenger Safety (CPS) technician training for individuals that would like to be certified to educate families about proper installation and use of car seats to ensure safe transportation practices. The course will take place 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Aug. 9-12 at the Bishop Head Start Community Center, 405 N. Barlow Ln. Fee for the course is $95. Inyo County Health and Human Service’s Behavioral Health Advisory Board is scheduled to meet at 2:30 p.m. at 1360 N. Main St., Ste. 103, Bishop. The meeting also can be viewed via Zoom at the Health and Human Service’s satellite location at 310 Jackson St. in Lone Pine and virtually via Zoom.
