CAROL JUNE HARVEY

-

1935 – 2022

Carol June Harvey, one of the most beautiful souls on this earth, entered Heaven July 6, 2022. She now rests where only peace, love and joy exist.

She was born April 2, 1935, to parents Rowland Harwood and Virginia “Babe” Rossi. She lived her entire life in her cherished hometown of Big Pine, California. Growing up she was surrounded and loved by extended family: her Grandma Nancy Blake Rossi, whom she adored, Aunties Stella, Alma and June, Uncle Maynard and many, many cousins. There was never a moment the kids were not together, built-in best friends, attached at the hip. From morning until night, they played hard and had fun under the watchful eyes of the entire adult community.

By age 11 a new baby sister, Harriette Smith Allison, arrived as the newest member of the family. Carol was her mama’s helper, and she was the keeper of her beloved sister “Hatsy.” They were always a duo, hand in hand they protected and took care of each other.

Years later she married Edward Harvey and they created a family of their own; daughter Suzanne Harvey Curtis and sons Rick and Gene Harvey. Home was her happy place, her center, and raising her little chicks was her purpose in life. She also worked, always mindful of being home with her kids the school system was a perfect fit to maintain that schedule. She was one of the “Cafeteria Ladies” at Big Pine Unified School District.

After 27 years of marriage, but much too soon, Eddie passed unexpectedly at the age of 52. Carol’s unwavering faith and dedication to the community and her church helped with her next chapter. Grammy Carol loved every minute of being a grandmother to six, in total: Tony, Shane, and Taylor Curtis, Klanci Harvey Madieros, Cali and Joshua Harvey and six great-grandchildren Ethan and Lanah Curtis, Maddie and Lizzie Curtis, Isabel Goss and Piper Harvey. She was also a devoted Auntie to niece Missy Allison.

After retirement she continued to work at Rossi’s Restaurant where she enjoyed the company of family, friends and the locals. She loved being busy and she had an insatiable appetite for sweets, and she never missed an opportunity to share every occasion with a handmade delivered perfect German Chocolate Cake.

She was selfless, authentic, and her quiet humor and infectious laugh touched all who knew and loved her. We are the lucky ones to be blessed by her time here on earth.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 20, 2022 at 10 a.m. at the First Baptist Church, 293 Chestnut Street, Big Pine, CA 93513.
