Ongoing NIH GIFT SHOP
The Northern Inyo Hospital Auxiliary Gift Shop, in the lobby of the hospital, is now open Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from noon to 4 p.m. The shop carries a wonderful selection of baby clothes and accessories, unique gifts and is the only place in town that sells See’s Candy. The shop accepts credit cards.
SCAMP FOR TEENS (AIRCRAFT CLUB)
For teens interested in flying, engineering, aircraft construction and technology, the SCAMP Program is looking for a few more interested teens to help the club build and fly its next airplane. The group has already built most of the Airframs and are getting ready to install the engine and avionics. Club members also go flying where the teens get an opportunity to take the controls of a general aviation aircraft. Thursday, Feb. 9 BISHOP LIONS CLUB
Bishop Lions Club will hold its club-level student speakers contest at noon at the VFW Hall, 484 Short St. in Bishop. Six students have signed up for this year’s speech contest and will have the opportunity to present their research and ideas on the subject, “Social Media: Connects Us or Isolates Us?” Lions International and the California Lions through Multiple District 4 conduct local community club contests, with the winner at each level heading for zone and then region and then area competition before a grand finale with state level winners. Every Saturday the Bishop Area Climbing Rangers will be serving free Black Sheep Coffee at the Pleasant Valley “Pit” Campground from 8 - 10 a.m. Come out and meet the rangers, Matthew and Casey, and enjoy a hot cup of coffee. This program will continue through March.

WORM FARMING PROJECT
Psalm 8 Worm Farming Project will present a free workshop at 2 p.m. at the Bishop Methodist Center 205 N. Fowler St. Bishop. This project promotes diverting organic waste from the local landfill, combating climate change, regenerating the soil, reducing the use of chemical fertilizers and insecticides. BIG PINE CIVIC CLUB
The Big Pine Civic Club will meet at 5:30 p.m. in the Big Pine Town Hall on Dewey Street to announce the 2022 Big Pine Citizen of the Year. The meeting will begin with the judging and crowning of the new Best Carrot Cake champion.
