Ongoing NIH GIFT SHOP

The Northern Inyo Hospital Auxiliary Gift Shop, in the lobby of the hospital, is now open Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from noon to 4 p.m. The shop carries a wonderful selection of baby clothes and accessorie­s, unique gifts and is the only place in town that sells See’s Candy. The shop accepts credit cards.

SCAMP FOR TEENS (AIRCRAFT CLUB)

For teens interested in flying, engineerin­g, aircraft constructi­on and technology, the SCAMP Program is looking for a few more interested teens to help the club build and fly its next airplane. The group has already built most of the Airframs and are getting ready to install the engine and avionics. Club members also go flying where the teens get an opportunit­y to take the controls of a general aviation aircraft. BISHOP ELEMENTARY CHESS CLUB

Thursday, Feb. 9 BISHOP LIONS CLUB

Bishop Lions Club will hold its club-level student speakers contest at noon at the VFW Hall, 484 Short St. in Bishop. Six students have signed up for this year’s speech contest and will have the opportunit­y to present their research and ideas on the subject, “Social Media: Connects Us or Isolates Us?” Lions Internatio­nal and the California Lions through Multiple District 4 conduct local community club contests, with the winner at each level heading for zone and then region and then area competitio­n before a grand finale with state level winners. Saturday, Feb. 11 COFFEE WITH CLIMBING RANGERS

Every Saturday the Bishop Area Climbing Rangers will be serving free Black Sheep Coffee at the Pleasant Valley “Pit” Campground from 8 - 10 a.m. Come out and meet the rangers, Matthew and Casey, and enjoy a hot cup of coffee. This program will continue through March.

CALICO QUILTERS

The Calico Quilters monthly workshop will be at 10 a.m. in the Patio Building, Tri-County Fairground­s. WORM FARMING PROJECT

Psalm 8 Worm Farming Project will present a free workshop at 2 p.m. at the Bishop Methodist Center 205 N. Fowler St. Bishop. This project promotes diverting organic waste from the local landfill, combating climate change, regenerati­ng the soil, reducing the use of chemical fertilizer­s and insecticid­es. BIG PINE CIVIC CLUB

The Big Pine Civic Club will meet at 5:30 p.m. in the Big Pine Town Hall on Dewey Street to announce the 2022 Big Pine Citizen of the Year. The meeting will begin with the judging and crowning of the new Best Carrot Cake champion. Other items on the agenda to be discussed include the March Inyo Associate Dinner, April community Easter Egg Hunt, Mule Days Shave Ice Booth, and reports from Inyo County representa­tives and community organizati­ons.

The Inyo County Board of Supervisor­s meets in regular session at 10 a.m. with the agenda available at the county website, www.inyocounty. us. The Northern Inyo Hospital Auxiliary meet every Wednesday at the Hospital Annex 2759 Birch Street (enter at the Grandview Street Entrance) at 10 a.m. The second Wednesday of the month is a General Meeting. Other Wednesdays are devoted to making crafts for the annual Holiday Boutique. All friends are welcome to join a wonderful volunteer organizati­on who’s funds purchase life saving equipment for the hospital.
