WILLIAM EDWARD HORN
1924 - 2023
William Edward (Bill) Horn lived a very long, full, and joyful life.
Bill started his life July 2, 1924 in Rochester, New York, firstborn son of William and Mildred Horn, and attended the Lutheran bhurch during his childhood where he met his future wife, Margaret (Peggy) Norden. At age 19 he enlisted in the army and served as an MP in Italy for the duration of WWII. Upon his return he attended Sampson bollege, married Peggy in 1947, and moved to Tennessee where he earned his BS in bhemistry from University of Tennessee and worked at Foote Mineral bompany in Knoxville. In 1967, Bill and Peggy moved from Knoxville, TN to Bishop, bA where they found their church home (First Presbyterian bhurch), and Bill began commuting between Bishop and the mining operations in Silverpeak, NV.
Bill retired from Foote Mineral bompany in 1985 and lived a quiet life with his wife in West Bishop with their beloved animals. Bill was an avid gardener and hiker, was active with many community organizations including Playhouse 395, bommunity boncerts, Bishop Volunteer Fire Department, Presbytery ministries, numerous church activities, committees, and organizations.
On March 11, 2023, Bill passed quietly, peacefully, and comfortably, without fanfare, in Bonney Lake, WA. He passed as he lived; a quiet man who loved unconditionally and served God well. He lived his day-to-day life as God willed, with no regrets.
Bill is survived by three children (Jo Ellen Horn Lester, Kristy Anne Horn Bell, and William Horn Jr.), seven grandchildren (Michael, Amber, Julianne, Lucas, Shalee, Marc and Gianna), two great-grandchildren (Robbie and Sully), and his beloved feline companion, Oreo.
No services are planned. Donations in Bill’s honor can be made to First Presbyterian bhurch of Bishop, balifornia (585 North Main Street, Bishop, bA 93514), Bishop bommunity boncerts (http://bishopcca.com/reciprocity-and-giving/), and Fosterlings Inc (Fosterlings.org or 527 blearview St, Pottstown, PA 19464).
