MLR Winter Series speakers announced

Alpenglow event to be held Nov. 30 in Mammoth Lakes

Mammoth Lakes Recreation is hosting two live, inperson screenings of the Alpenglow Winter Speaker Series, and everyone is welcome to attend.

The doors open at 6 p.m. and the show starts at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 30, at The Village at Mammoth Conference Center, 1111 Forest Trail Road in

Mammoth Lakes.

According to MLR, the goal of the speaker series is to inspire and motivate mountain athletes to pursue their outdoor dreams, and to educate about and raise funds for nonprofit organizations making a tangible difference in the community. The Winter Speaker Series is the largest free community speaker series in the country that hosts the biggest names in the outdoor industry.

Michell Parker will kick off the series November 30 with her show “A Shift In Perspective.” Parker will take the audience on an emotional journey that showed her how time spent with her father after he was diagnosed with dementia was life’s biggest gift yet, and how this new perspective helped her succeed on a recent big mountain, Alaskan ski expedition.

There will be an in-person and online raffle. In Mammoth, purchase raffle tickets to win prizes from Kuhl, Sierra Nevada Brewery, Sage to Summit, Dakine and more. Registering online provides one free entry into the giveaway, with the option of purchasing additional giveaway entries. All of the online proceeds go to the Tahoe nonprofit beneficiary for this event, the Tahoe Area Mountain Biking Association.
