Ongoing INYO COUNTY HOLIDAY TOY DRIVE

Donations of new or gently used toys for children ages 0-18 and wrapping supplies (wrapping paper, tissue, ribbons, bows and gift bags) for the Inyo County Health and Human Services Public Health and Prevention Annual Holiday Toy Drive are welcomed through Dec. 15 at the Clint Quilter Consolidat­ed Office Building located at 1360 N. GIFTS FOR SKILLED NURSING RESIDENTS

Those interested in donating funds to purchase holiday gifts for Skilled Nursing residents at Southern Inyo Hospital in Lone Pine can drop off cash or checks made out to “Southern Inyo Hospital Donation Acct.” (memo line: SNF residents) at Southern Inyo Hospital Administra­tion Office; or mail to: Southern Inyo Hospital; Attn: Ritz Perkins; PO Box 1009, Lone Pine, CA, 93545. HOSPICE CHRISTMAS GIFT TREE RAFFLE

Raffle tickets to benefit Hospice of the Owens Valley are on sale now featuring a prize worth move than $1,200 from contributi­ons from various local businesses. Participat­ing businesses include Rainbow Pack Outfitters, Starbucks,Bishop Twin Theatre, Aerocycle, Sage to Summit, local grocery stores and more. The winner will be drawn on Dec. 19. SENIOR CENTER CANDY SALE

The Bishop Senior Center Recreation Committee will be selling See’s candy and homemade peanut brittle for the holidays. The See’s candy come in a wide assortment and there will also be peanut brittle available, made at the Senior Center, limited to four bags per customer; Monday Friday, 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. Bishop Senior Center, 682 Spruce St. (behind Bishop City Park). Cash or checks accepted (sorry, no credit cards). All proceeds go toward programs/activities at the Bishop Senior Center.

Saturday, Dec. 2 TRIBAL MUSEUMS DAY

The Owens Valley Paiute Shoshone Cultural Center will join tribal museums and cultural centers across the nation for the second annual Tribal Museums Day. This year it has been expanded to a week-long celebratio­n from Dec. 2 through Dec. 9. ‘POLAR EXPRESS’ FOR HOSPICE

The Bishop Twin Theatre will feature a special $5 showing of “The Polar Express” at 1 p.m. to benefit Hospice of the Owens Valley.

SANTA MILE FUN/RUN WALK

Register for this pre-Christmas parade event hosted by the Sunrise Rotary Club by 4 p.m. at the Bishop Chamber of Commerce, 690 N. Main St., Bishop. Registrati­on is $10 with all proceeds going to Polio Plus.

LIGHTED CHRISTMAS PARADE

The Bishop Lighted Christmas Parade begins at 4:30 p.m. at High Country Lumber and heads north on Main Street, ending at Bishop City Park for the official tree lighting ceremony at 5:30 p.m.

DOWNTOWN BISHOP MARKET

BUHS WINTER CONCERT

Wednesday, Dec. 6 NIH AUXILIARY

The Northern Inyo Hospital Auxiliary meet every Wednesday at the Hospital Annex 2759 Birch Street (enter at the Grandview Street Entrance) at 10 a.m. The second Wednesday of the month is a General Meeting. Other Wednesdays are devoted to making crafts for the annual Holiday Boutique. All friends are welcome to join a wonderful volunteer organizati­on who’s funds purchase life saving equipment for the hospital. The Big Pine Community Associatio­n and the Big Pine Volunteer Fire Department will host the Big Pine Community Christmas Tree Lighting with the festivitie­s starting at 5 p.m. at the corner of highways 395 and 168 in the Big Pine kiosk. Special guest appearance by Santa Claus. The Big Pine Fire Department will be helping Santa with children’s stockings and the Big Pine Community Associatio­n will provide the refreshmen­ts.
