Embrace the Christ

- By Rev. Dr. Walt Sharer

Christmas or ChristMass is a wonderful holiday that we celebrate on December twenty-five every year but it is not limited to that date. In truth, becoming awake and aware of Christ being born within you can be heralded any day. Paul told us to have the same mind in us as Christ Jesus. When we are aware of the goodness, truth and beauty all around us and our ability to effect positive change of conditions of our life experience, that mind of Christ is working through us as us. This takes nothing away from Jesus, who was and is the embodiment of the glory of God in the highest.

When we read and hear of the nativity, the stories and the wise men bearing gifts, be aware, the story is about You. You are the promised one. Through Infinite intelligence working through you, by you, your life will be uplifted to a level of health, and happiness. The Christ is a mantel of peace, love and strength. Some say that Jesus loved everyone, however, we can read that he wasn’t particularly fond of the ruling bodies of his religion. We can be loving and still be decerning.

Even though the legend of Santa Claus happened long after the birth of Jesus, nevertheless, that spirit of love has always been available. Some of you that may know me know that I don’t possess great balance and I take a tumble now and then. More than once I have found myself on the ground at the golf course. Most recently a fellow I don’t know sprinted the length of the fairway to render help. In the past, I recall golf carts coming from all directions to aid a fellow golfer. This is having the same mind in you as Christ Jesus. I must admit I have felt embarrassment, but also feel extreme gratitude.

Every song celebrating the Christmas Story can pull at your heart strings. My particular one is “Oh Holy Night.” Years ago, I heard it sung at a Christian Science Church in Costa Mesa. The young girl that sang it had to be an angel, because here voice was heavenly. I still weep with inspiration when I hear the song. All of the Christmas music have an emotional element to them. To most of us it is love, but to the grinch it is sorrow.

There are a lot of ways to celebrate this glorious holiday. Going to church, gathering with friends and relatives, visiting hospitals, or donating time or money to charitable groups One thing I like to do, as I go though a drive through, is pay for my food as well as the car behind me. It’s one of the funnest things to do. Try it sometime. You will be surprised how good that makes you feel.

Say to yourself, “I take the Christ’s way to fulfilment. At Christmas and every day I let love flow through me in everything I do or say. Glory to God. Glory to each waking day. I am loved. I am love.”

God is Love and

Loving You Right Now!
