The California First Community Development Program is apparently a $600 million program, when we are looking at a $63 billion deficit next year. Of course we can expect this from the high-paid employees who don’t do any research similar to Inyo county employees that put forth the Small Business Development Plan that has already cost us over $100,000.

Below are some facts on California that should be taken into consideration before making these decisions, all of which costs us taxpayers.

1. The state lost 1,225,000 well-trained citizens from 2020 to July 2022

2. California has the highest regulatory restrictions by double compared to any other state.

3. California has the second country.

4. Hoover Institute reports that 61 companies left California from 2020 to 2023 that employed 100 or more employees. Apparently one reason to find qualified talent. Definitely a reflection on our educational system that has trouble producing people that can make change at the check out counter.

5. On the local front, along with some other issues, we have no affordable housing. The general consensus in the rental industry and the state is you should spend no more than 25% to 30% of your gross income on housing. That would mean that the supervisors may not qualify for a two-bedroom apartment in Bishop. The county officials have talked about affordable housing for about 20 years with no substantive action. When Sterling Heights became available, did our over-paid county executives do anything other than make it near impossible for the new owners to develop affordable housing? DWP and Edison have similar problems, so they need to get on board to be part of the solution.

With all this information, why did our county executives find it necessary to spend over $100,000 on the Inyo County Small Business Development program. highest minimum wage in the
